FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do you have any openings??

A: (UPDATED September 2019)
We may have a couple of openings for September or October 2019 for potty-trained children who will be 3 years old & up (or very close to 3) by their start date. Please download an application and email Lynn if you are interested in a tour. We will likely offer tours the first few weeks of September. We look forward to meeting your child and family.

We’re also accepting applications for possible openings beyond Fall 2019 and for Fall 2020. Please take a look at our website and if you’re looking for a great 4-day/week, half-day morning program, Monday-Thursday please send in an application. Thanks!

Q: Do you ever have mid-year openings?

A: Sometimes, and when we do, we call prospective families for a tour using our wait list of applications received. So your first step is to send us an application. You can apply for free by downloading the application on the “Apply” page and snail-mailing it to us.

Q: I sent in my application a long time ago, but no one has called me for a tour. What’s happening?

A: We are a small school, frequently swamped with requests for tours. Our first priority is to the children and families currently enrolled, so we’ve decided to offer tours only when we know we have an opening coming up.

We poll our current families first to see who is coming back the following fall. Then, when we know how many spaces we have opening up in the fall, we arrange tours for prospective families. These tours are usually held in the spring for fall openings. Thanks for your patience.

If your child is not yet 3 (or won’t be 3 by September) we’re likely holding your child’s application until they turn 3 (and we have an opening).

Q: How do you decide who gets called and/or admitted first?

A: We try to keep a balance of boys and girls as well as a balanced age range. Siblings get a priority. We also look at the date the application was received so send in your application as early as possible even if your child is not yet 3.

Q: What’s the age range of children enrolled?

A: Most of the children are 3-5 years old.

Q: What if my child will not yet be 3 by September?

A: Sometimes younger siblings of currently enrolled children can begin a few months before their 3rd birthday, but non-sibling children are usually 3 & up.

Q: Four days a week? Are you really closed on Fridays?

A: Yes. Our preschool program is four days a week, Monday through Thursday, 8:00 to noon. Lynn and our preschool teachers (and we hope our preschool families as well) have more time on Fridays to explore creative endeavors, educational pursuits, and connect with family and friends. We’re inspired by the potential for a healthy work-life balance with our 4-day work and preschool week.

Q: I’m a preschool teacher looking for a job (or a volunteer position).

A: Please feel free to send us an email with your contact info, a description of your experience & ECE units. Tell us about any special interests or talents you have. Sometimes we need a substitute teacher and that sometimes leads to a regular teaching position.

Q: What’s the best way to contact the director with another question?

A: Email is best. Thanks. PreschoolLynn@gmail.com
