More Details About Our Program

 

THE PRESCHOOL offers a morning program (4 days/week, Monday through Thursdays,
from 8:00 a.m. to noon).

We’re open on a 10-month syear, from early September through early-June.

MORNING PRESCHOOL includes free-choice and teacher planned activities,
snack (brought from home), indoor & outdoor play, and circle time.

Free-choice activities are always available, for example: blocks, manipulatives,
dress up, role-play, self-directed art activity (drawing, cutting, etc.) outdoor play,
books, cozy corner, sand or water play…

Teacher-planned special activities include: special art projects, songs, music,
dance, yoga, Spanish, gardening, cooking projects, small group activities,
flannel stories, special books and dictation stories, group murals, hands on math,
simple science & nature, and circle times.
The Preschool offers a developmentally appropriate curriculum which emphasizes:

• Children “Learning Through Play.”

• Opportunity for creative expression & social play

• Individual and group projects relating to our themes

• Children free to choose their activities indoors and outdoors

• Many opportunities for children to learn about and observe Science, Gardening, and Nature


OUR THEMES

Teachers plan the curriculum relating to subjects that are interesting to young children.  Some ideas emerge from the children themselves, parents’ ideas, and our neighborhood.  We plan many books, songs, cooking projects, flannel stories and creative art projects relating to that theme. Parents are also welcome to join in with projects and circle times.
